Jagan Karade is Professor and Head, Department of Sociology, Shivaji University, Kolhapur. He is also the Co-ordinator of UGC-SAP-DRS-Phase III and Director of the Centre of Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy. He is a Fellow of the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). Author of four books and ten edited volumes, he has completed two major and four minor research projects funded by the UGC and ICSSR, New Delhi. He is a Board Member of WG-05, Famine and Society, International Sociological Association. He has served as Secretary, the Indian Sociological Society, New Delhi and President of the Marathi Samajshastra Parishad. Very recently, Dr Karade received the Dr Pradeep Aglave Best Professor and Researcher Award (2020) and Dr Suryakant Ghugare Best Research Book Award (2021) by Marathi Samajshastra Parishad.
